Initially a biochemist I began my 43 year career with the Medical Research Council at the National Institute for Medical Research studying viral replication. I then worked on the structure of muscle proteins at Harvard Medical School and King’s College, London before retraining as a neuropsychologist. I spent 20 years in the Psychiatry Division of the Clinical Research Centre, London, where our team studied various neuropsychiatric conditions and dementias including spongiform encephalopathies. The team moved to Cambridge in 1993 to investigate brain mechanisms of learning and memory and cognitive effects of neurodegeneration.

Research Interests
