Newnham college is delighted that Honorary Fellow and former Principal, Dame Carol Black GBE FRCP has been nominated for the honorary degree of Doctor of Medical Science in the University of Cambridge. The Congregation for the conferment will be held on Wednesday, 19 June 2024. We send our heartfelt congratulations to Dame Carol.

‘That the title of the degree of Doctor of Medical Science honoris causa be conferred under Statute A II 14 upon Professor Dame Carol Mary Black, Honorary Fellow and former Principal of Newnham College, Honorary Fellow of Lucy Cavendish College, sometime President of the Royal College of Physicians, formerly National Director for Health and Work and Independent Reviewer of Policy on Drugs for HM Government, rheumatologist and adviser on public health policy.’
