Michelene Wandor publishes first novel

Michelene Wandor (NC 1959) has published her first novel, Orfeo’s Last Act: A Novel in Two Parts.  Michelene read English at Newnham, spending most of her time acting and writing reviews, she tells us, and has enjoyed an illustrious writing career in drama, short stories, poetry and journalism.  She was poetry editor of Time Out, contributed to Spare Rib, the Sunday Times, the Guardian and produced and presented numerous programmes and plays for BBC Radio and the National Theatre.

Published by Greenwich Exchange, Orfeo’s Last Act is set against the backdrop of 17th-century Italy. “It is fantastically exciting to be publishing my FIRST novel now,” Michelene told News from Newnham. “Better late then never, say I, and I’m working on the next one already. It will also be historical (16th-17th centuries) and also about music.” A special pre-publication copy is available for £10 at www.greenex.co.uk.  Find out more at michelenewandor.co.uk (photos courtesy Michelene Wandor.)
