Relief Porters (nights)
Newnham College is seeking to recruit some RELIEF PORTERS to provide cover for night shifts in Porters’ Lodge during busy periods and to cover sickness absence and annual leave. With the flexibility to cover, sometimes at short notice, full training can be given but some experience, particularly of working in a customer focused environment, is advantageous.
The Porters’ Lodge is traditionally a focal point for information and assistance for students, Fellows, staff, and all other visitors including conference and B&B guests, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is an opportunity to join a professional team providing an efficient and effective front reception, welcoming people to the College and overseeing security and health and safety.
There are no fixed hours for this post and the successful candidates will be offered work as and when required. The hourly rate for this work is £13.93 plus holiday pay, which equates to the salary for a permanent post as a Porter, paid at 31 on the University Single salary spine currently £27,181 for a full-time role. Other benefits of working at the college include access to a pension, a free meal when on duty, free car parking and use of the College’s gym facilities.
