Interviews

Most of our applicants are invited to Newnham for at least one online interview, although we reserve the right not to call applicants who, on the basis of their application, will have little chance of success.

Details regarding online interviews at Cambridge can be found on the University website.

You can find general information about the interview process on the University website and there is some information about what to expect at a Newnham interview on our subject pages.

Written Work and Portfolios

All applicants for the following subjects should submit written work as part of your application.

For all subjects listed (except Archaeology, where one piece of no more than 1500 words is required, and Architecture and Design, which require portfolios), you will need to submit two pieces of written schoolwork, which should have been marked by a teacher. These should be in an essay format and should be a maximum of 2000 words in total. Pieces do not need to be equal in length. For more information on requirements for particular subjects, please see the relevant Subject page.

All written work and portfolios should be uploaded to the Applicant Document Upload Form, the link to which will be sent to applicants in the email acknowledging their application. The deadline for sthe submission of written work this year is Monday 4 November. All written work, but not portfolios for Architecture and Design applicants, should be accompanied by a Written Work Cover Sheet, which will be provided to applicants in the same email. Written work should have been completed during the course of your A Level (or equivalent) studies and should have been marked by a teacher. Submissions can be handwritten or typed, but pieces should be in their original format and should not be retyped for submission.

Written work will not be requested separately: applicants in relevant subjects can upload their written work as soon as they have received the link to the form and must do so before the deadline.
