The Cambridge Foundation Year

Newnham College is excited to be taking part in the University of Cambridge’s Foundation Year programme: a stepping stone to Cambridge for those who have experienced a range of educational disadvantages.

The Cambridge Foundation Year is a one-year residential course at the University of Cambridge. The programme will enable selected students to study an engaging and challenging multi-disciplinary curriculum in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, preparing them for undergraduate study in these subjects.

Students will have the option to study here at Newnham College, or one of the other participating colleges. As a member of the Newnham community, students will be fully supported both academically and pastorally, experiencing all that college life has to offer.

Students admitted to the Foundation Year will receive a full scholarship to cover rent and other living costs, and no tuition fees will be charged for the course.

Further information on eligibility and applying to the Foundation Year Programme, and details of the programme’s course structure and content, may be found on the Foundation Year Website: www.cam.ac.uk/foundationyear
