Student Life Skills Course – Thursday 17 March 2022

We’ve asked students what the skills they’d like to learn and former students what they wished they’d learnt before leaving College. The result is Newnham’s annual Life Skills Course.

With expert presenters and lively workshops, you’ll learn new skills, gain confidence and meet new people.

The day is run by Karin Horowitz, a Newnham alumna with many years experience as a business skills and life coach. The event will be based in the Cynthia Beerbower Room, and the timetable is below.

11:30 – 12:20   Negotiating skills – Jane Dancer
12:30 – 1:15     Buffet lunch
1:30 – 2:00       Energising and creating – performance poetry on mental health and well-being – Megan Beech
2:10 – 3:00       Managing stress and dealing with difficult situations – Karin Horowitz
3:10 – 3:45       Managing your finances in student life and beyond – Mihiri Jayaweera
3:55 – 4:30       Leadersip and Transferrable skills – Wendy Hirsh
4:30                  Day finishes, followed by…
4:35                  ….Tea and cakes

The course is open to Newnham students in all years, undergrads and postgrads. You can choose to attend in person or via Zoom. If you choose to attend in person a £5 deposit is required, which will be refunded if you attend, or if you cancel your booking by 4pm on Wednesday 16th March.
