Eligibility

Only members of Newnham College, Murray Edwards College, Trinity Hall, and Fitzwilliam College are currently eligible to take part in the programme. Applications from members of other colleges will not be considered under any circumstances.

Members of the participating colleges must be undergraduates in the first year of a three-year degree or in the first or second year of an eligible four-year degree. You should have two consecutive summers remaining on your course.

Selection process 

As part of the selection process, you are required to submit the following documents. Please use the templates provided to craft your proposal and personal statement.

A Research Proposal consisting of either:

  • Traditional written proposal (1000 word max.) or a Poster (600 word max)
  • Video pitch (maximum of 5 minutes; may include slides in the video itself or be accompanied by a 300-word max. handout)

A Personal Statement consisting of either:

  • Traditional written statement (1000-word max.) or
  • Video statement (maximum of 5 minutes).

You will also need a reference from your Director of Studies and confirmation from a Cambridge-based academic that they have agreed to supervise your summer research project. Please ensure you project supervisor knows that they can receive a stipend for their time spent supporting you.

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of senior representatives from the participating colleges.

 

Please note that members of all four eligible colleges will form a single cohort.
