The Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies supports research into economic and social development and international relations, in and relating to the Global South. The Centre supports two to three postdoctoral fellows at a time, as well as two graduate studentships.
The Centre has a friendly and welcoming environment and provides a platform for associated research initiatives within and beyond Newnham College, such as the Archives of the Disappeared. The Centre also provides a supportive forum for graduate students in the College working on various aspects of international change, politics and development.
As well as conducting research, the Centre hosts various public events throughout the year.
The Centre was founded in 2018 thanks to a legacy from Dame Margaret Anstee, an alumna of the College, and the first woman Under-Secretary General of the United Nations.
