COVID Safe Guidance

We are pleased to be able to welcome researchers back to Newnham College Archives. We have developed the following guidance to ensure that your visit is COVID safe.

Please do not come to the Archives if:

  • You are self-isolating or you have COVID-related symptoms.
  • You do not yet have a reader’s appointment.

When visiting the Archives:

  • Government advice is that you should limit the close contact you have with those not in your household. Our Research Space is arranged to help with this, but it does mean that we can only accommodate one researcher at a time.
  • We will be opening windows to maximise ventilation and air flow. This, combined with our 100% fresh air intake in the air handling system, may make the Research Space a bit chilly on occasion, so do bring extra layers if you think you might need them.
  • It remains College policy that face coverings should be worn in all communal areas, and this applies to the Archives too.
  • Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling archive material.  We advise against the use of hand sanitiser because it can leave residues.
  • We will clean shared surfaces and equipment before and after use.
  • Please take away with you any tissues or other rubbish that you generate during your visit.
