Biography

Sasha Gardner is an Early Career Librarian at Newnham College Library. She previously worked as a Children’s Bookseller at Hatchards Piccadilly, and as a Literacy Support Worker and Teaching Assistant at Firbeck Academy and Esher College respectively. She studied English & Classics at the University of Nottingham, where she was awarded the School of English Essay Prize, and has an MA in Ancient Greek Language & Literature from the University of Oxford.

Research Interests

Sasha’s academic interests include Virginia Woolf, Ancient Greek language, and historical printing. Since coming to Newnham she has classified and catalogued the Library’s Jaffé collection of books illustrated by women wood engravers. Her essay on this topic was awarded the 2023 Gordon Duff Bibliographic Essay Prize. Sasha is also interested in children’s literature and literacy, and in illustrated texts across history.
