Biography
Dr Rita Teixeira da Costa is a pure mathematician whose work lies at the intersection of Analysis, Geometry, and Mathematical Physics.
Dr Rita Teixeira da Costa studied at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, before moving to Cambridge to complete Part III in Mathematics. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS) in 2021; her thesis was awarded a Dissertation Prize from the Association for Women in Mathematics. She then took up junior fellowships at Trinity College and at Princeton University.
Since September 2024, she is Assistant Professor in DPMMS, and a fellow and college lecturer at Newnham.
Research Interests
Dr Rita Teixeira da Costa’s research focuses on analysis of partial differential equations arising from problems in geometry and physics. Most of her current work is concerned with the study of the Einstein equations in General Relativity.
