Biography
Dr Rebecca Dell studied geography at the University of Durham, before completing her MPhil in geography at Newcastle University, and subsequently her PhD at the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge. Rebecca’s PhD, entitled ‘Investigating the surface hydrology of Antarctic ice shelves using remote sensing and machine learning’ involved the development of semi-automated computational methods, which help us to monitor surface meltwater on Antarctic ice shelves.
Research Interests
Rebecca’s research focuses on using satellite imagery to map surface meltwater on Antarctic ice shelves. She also investigates the potential relationships between climate and surface melt, to help us better predict potential future trends.
Rebecca’s current postdoc is funded by the European Space Agency Climate Change Initiative Fellowship Scheme and is entitled: ‘Controls on Lake Formation on Ice Shelves’.
