Dr Juliane Borchert studied Physics in Berlin, Halle (Saale), Groningen, and Oxford. She gained a DPhil in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Oxford. There she won the EPSRC Doctoral Prize which enabled her to stay on as a postdoctoral research associate. Now Dr Borchert is a postdoctoral research associate at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge and AMOLF research institute in Amsterdam.

Research Interests

Dr Juliane Borchert researches novel materials for solar cells. She fabricates, characterises, and utilises novel perovskite materials and thin-films with the aim to enable a new generation of lightweight, bendable, efficient solar cells. Her research also has applications for other optoelectronic devices, including light emitting devices (LEDs), lasers, photodetectors, and quantum computing. She is a recognised expert in the vapour deposition of high-quality perovskite thin-films.
