Biography
Deborah Hodder has been College Librarian at Newnham since 1992, having previously worked as Assistant Librarian at the English and Philosophy Faculty Libraries in the University of Cambridge. Her job is to manage the College Library, and in addition to regular duties, she has assisted with a number of library development projects, including a major new library building (the Horner Markwick Library, opened in 2004). She has a degree in English from the University of Cambridge and an MA in Library and Information Studies from University College, London. She is a Chartered Member of CILIP (the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals).
Research Interests
Deborah keeps up her professional training and development, with a particular interest in academic library services. She is in regular contact with Directors of Studies to ensure that the College Library’s working collection is kept up-to-date for current students. She also carries out research for displays, exhibitions and events which celebrate the College Library’s special collections of earlier printed books and Newnham’s history.
