Old Hall, known as Newnham Hall, when it first opened in 1875, is the oldest building on the Newnham College site and is located directly south of the Porter’s Lodge. It has 69 Undergraduate bedrooms across the ground, first, second, and third floors.
The rooms are divided into ‘households’ which share the use of Kitchen and Bathroom facilities. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were refurbished in 2020. There is a laundry room on the ground floor for all residents of the building.
The ground floor has a Household of six bedrooms which share the use of a Kitchen, and bathroom. There is also access to general-use toilets on the ground floor of the building which also houses the College Nurse and Welfare advisor, as well as the MCR and the Barbara White room which are used for college events.
The first floor has one large household of 18 bedrooms which are divided up to share 3 kitchens. All the rooms share access to all shower rooms, sinks and toilet facilities on the floor.
The second floor is divided into three households, one with ten bedrooms, one with nine bedrooms and one with seven bedrooms. Each household shares access to at least one kitchen, as well as showers, sinks and toilet facilities.
A small household of five bedrooms is located in The Pfeiffer Tower on the third floor of the building. The rooms share a Kitchen and shower room. The remainder of the third floor is divided into two households, one of six bedrooms and one of eight bedrooms. Each household has access to a kitchen, and shower and toilet facilities.
