The Newnham Conversation 2024 - 'Greening Financial Systems'
Alumni Festival event - The Newnham Conversation 2024
"Greening" financial systems - Ethical finance and investments
We were pleased to host an insightful Newnham Conversation about the importance of ‘green’ ethics and sustainability in finance as part of the wider Alumni Festival at the University of Cambridge. The conversation was chaired by alumna Beatriz Araújo (NC 1979), formerly partner and Head of Corporate Governance at Baker McKenzie and was between two fellow Newnham alumnae who are at the forefront of UK financial governance: Sarah Breeden (NC 1987), Deputy Governor for Financial Stability at the Bank of England, and Dame Julia Hoggett (NC 1993), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the London Stock Exchange.
In this conversation, Beatriz, Sarah and Julia discussed the role corporates play in advancing ethical finance and investment. The discussion was then be followed by an audience Q&A session.
