Commemoration dinner 2026

Commemoration 2026

With the College gardens vibrant in the spring sunshine, we hosted Commemoration on the last weekend in March, welcoming back alumnae who matriculated in 1956,1966, 1976, 2001, 2016 to reunite with their peers and spend time together at Newnham. It was wonderful to meet alumnae spanning the decades from 1956 to 2016.

The Roll had its AGM with Libby Richards (NC 2005) formally taking over her position as President and Liz Newbronner (NC 1979) as Vice President; Dr Rosemary Leonard MBE (NC 1974) and Carmen Lok (NC 2010) joined the committee.  The Roll Lecture entitled Plastics: a wicked problem was given by Fellow Emerita Dr Claire Barlow who is a sustainability and materials engineer as well as former Course Director for the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos, former Director of Undergraduate Education and former Deputy Head of Engineering Department.

The Commemoration Dinner speaker was Dr Celina Fox (NC 1966) who is an art historian specialising in the history of London in the 18th and 19th centuries. She was a founding curator of the Museum of London in the 1970s and author of the book Londoners
