Boat Race next weekend: cheer on our Newnham Rowers

The Boat Race takes place from 14.23 on Sunday 3rd April, and once again, the crews will be powered by Newnham’s formidable rowers. Cheer them on, whether from the bank or on the telly!

JCR member Sarah Portsmouth, an architect, who was in last year’s winning crew, has again been selected for the Blues Boat, and is looking forward to tackling the Thames.

Caoimhe Dempsey of the Centre for Family Research, is also returning to the crew after last year’s win for the Light Blues. And MCR member and engineer Adriana Perez Rotondo will also be joining her fellow Newnhamites in the Blues Boat for a second year. College members will have read an interview with Caoimhe and Adriana about their experiences training for last year’s Boat Race in the Roll Letter 2021-22.

No doubt all three of them will be bringing experience, determination and skill to the race.

Meanwhile, JCR member Millie Hopkins, a PhysNatSci and former co-Captain of NCBC,  will row in the reserve crew, Blondie.

Congratulations to all four rowers on their months of hard training, their academic dedication, and their success in being selected for the crew. Win or lose on the Tideway this year, they’re all already winners.
