London Alumnae Group Event - Guided Tours Inspiring Westminster Women
The Newnham London Alumnae Group are hosting guided walking tours around Westminster, London on Saturday 20th June, with Katie Wignall (a blue-badge guide, blogger and author). After the popularity of last year’s guided walking tour, this year we are running two 90-minute tours, at 10am and 12.30pm.
Tickets are £23.25 and are limited to a maximum of two per person.
Walk 1 time: 10.00am to 11.30am
Walk 2 time: 12.30pm to 2.00pm
Although Millicent Garrett Fawcett's statue only appeared in Parliament Square in 2018, look closer and you can find reminders of heroic women all around Westminster.
On this 90-minute walk we'll talk about some of the most inspiring women in British history, women who fought for the right to vote, women who spied for their country and women who died to protect their religious freedom.
Examining statues, sculpture and plaques that you might never notice otherwise, we'll unravel the stories of courageous and tenacious women. Walking the 'corridors of power' along Whitehall and around Parliament Square you will never look at these iconic places in the same way again.
